OFF THE RECORD: THE GAME

My fiancé and I were driving to a family event over the holidays, and with a four-hour trip ahead, I decided to bring Off The Record. I’m so glad I did! We had his 18-year-old cousin with us — who we have never spent more than a few moments together 1:1. About an hour into the drive, I started asking her questions from the game. Just ten cards kept us all talking for three hours! After the trip, she told me how much she loved the drive and felt like she really got to know us in the car. She mentioned that she didn’t realize how much we had in common. (We both have very different interests and aesthetics so it makes sense that she would think this way). I’m incredibly grateful for this game and the chance it gave me to connect with my fiancé’s cute little cousin in such a meaningful way.

I was attending a networking conference and usually struggle to make & hold a conversation, beyond the generic networking questions. Using these cards, I introduced myself and then picked one of the cards “How do you feel about social media?” Which was very fitting at a marketing conference! The conversation went deeper than I expected and instead of a quick couple of minutes exchange, we spoke for 20 mins around a topic we’re both passionate about.

We shook hands and I left feeling so much more confident in being able to hold a conversation and get to know the other person too.

He connected with me on LinkedIn and introduced himself from points we talked about thanks to the cards’ prompts!

I can’t wait to use these at more networking events and when I’m socialising at other places.

From the design to the content I am IN LOVE with Off the Record! The cigarette pack shape/size is perfect for storing in my bag and I've used it numerous times when hagnign out with new friends and it's been such a great ice breaker!

We keep our OTR cards on our coffee table and it’s been the best decision yet! Whether it’s doing a round with my boyfriend, friends, or family, you end up having unexpected conversations. If you’re looking for a creative way to start some conversation outside of the basics like weather, work, etc. this is perfect!!

I’m a photographer, and on shoots where I have multiple models who need to get to know each other before shooting, this game is an amazing warm-up! Definitely helps break the ice between the models so their interactions on camera feel more natural. Great ice breaker in general, and I love the option to choose the deeper questions if it feels right!
